So you are interested in counselling. I hope that this page will provide you with an overview of who I am, my approach to therapy as well as some basic information about the practice of counselling. The goal is to provide you with enough information for you to make an informed decision about whether you wish to engage collaboratively in the counselling process. Should you have any questions, I would be pleased to answer them.
I am a bilingual counsellor with a Master's degree in Counselling, Psychotherapy and Spirituality from Saint Paul University, I am also a registered psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a certified counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I offer individual counselling to teenagers and adults and bring a diverse, multicultural life experience to my counselling perspective.
My approach to counseling is primarily a humanistic, mindfulness based approach but is tailored to each individual and may draw upon a variety of theoretical orientations. I will provide a safe environment from which you can explore yourself, your challenges and your resources in order that you may gain insight and awareness into your unique human experience. I will help you navigate your inner landscape to help you try and understand what is working and not working for you and how your values align with your actions and relationships. We will work together to establish objectives which may facilitate growth and help bring you towards wholeness. My hope is that you may encounter yourself in a manner which feels safe and collaborative and which enhances our work together in the direction of your goals. |
Therapeutic Risks and Benefits:
During the process of counselling you may experience uncomfortable and intense emotions associated with your current situation or aspects of your life history. Sessions do not always end with you feeling your best and sometimes things may seem to get worse before they get better.
On the other hand, counselling offers you a better understanding of yourself, of your emotions and of your interpersonal relationships which, in turn, increases your psychological flexibility and allows you to make clearer decisions regarding the direction of your life.
While I cannot anticipate the consequences of your counselling, my commitment to you is to provide a safe and compassionate environment in which you can explore yourself.
Appointments
Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length and payment is required in full at the end of each session.
